Addis Ababa, December 8, 2022 (Walta) – The FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed nations and nationalities together show the great and beautiful Ethiopia.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, on the 17th Ethiopian Nationalities Day celebrations in Hawassa, said that the Day is a symbol and demonstration of Ethiopia.
“Ethiopia is the home of all of us. If we cannot create a situation where we can blossom and prosper together in the country, none of us will be able to live in peace,” he stated.
“The demands of each of us can be answered only when the collective matters are solved. Any individual and group that can only solve their problem should realize that there is no private issue that can be answered before Ethiopia’s problem.
On this day, the culture, history, heritage, value, wealth and common pride of all of us will be observed, and we will learn that we are all very important to Ethiopia and our beauty will be highlighted and learned under the umbrella of Ethiopia,” the Premier emphasized.
The Prime Minister said that a country is like a house, and all nations and nationalities together show the great and beautiful Ethiopia, just as the country, the valley, and the roof become a house.
Speaker of House of Federation (HoF), Agegnehu Teshager on his part said, the celebration of Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day plays an important role in further strengthening unity and brotherhood among nations and nationalities in the country.
While addressing a symposium held in connection to the day in Hawassa city, Speaker of the House of Federation Agegnehu Teshager said the event has crucial role in promoting co-existence, solidarity and brotherhood among nations and nationalities.
he day is very important to create common understanding among nations and nationalities as well as promote their cultures, traditions and values.
Noting there are challenges facing the country from inside and outside the country, the speaker stressed that it is important to strengthen national unity and brotherhood among nations and nationalities to overcome the challenges.
Chief administrators of regional states, mayors of city administrations as well as representatives of nations and nationalities, among others, attended the symposium.
This year’s celebration of the Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day is different as the government of Ethiopia demonstrated its commitment to peacefully resolving the problem in the northern part of the country.
