Addis Ababa February 6/2022/ENA /Ethiopia and Russia have pledged to further bolster their cooperation in multilateral fora and protect their interests in ways that commensurate with their friendly relations.
Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia had a meeting with Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov.
The meeting took place on Saturday on the margins of the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
During their discussion, the two sides deliberated ways to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Ethiopia and Russia with further engagements in various sectors, including agriculture, energy, and technology transfer.
Discussing regional and global issues, the two sides pledged to continue cooperating in multilateral fora to protect their interests in ways that commensurate with their friendly relations.
They further underlined the need to resolve conflicts in Africa through political and diplomatic means in line with the fundamental principles of international law.
The discussion between the two sides also included issues related to the second Russia-Africa Summit, according to ministry of Foreign Affairs.
